Root Canal Treatment (RCT)

A Root Canal Treatment is a dental procedure that removes infection from inside a tooth, preserves its structure, and restores function. It’s often recommended when the pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth containing nerves and blood vessels) becomes inflamed or infected due to deep decay, repeated dental procedures, cracks, or injury.

Without treatment, the infection may spread, leading to severe pain, abscess, or tooth loss. A root canal saves your natural tooth, eliminates pain, and restores oral health.

Why Choose Root Canal Treatment Instead of Extraction?

At Risus Multi Speciality Dental Clinic, our priority is to save your natural teeth whenever possible but many patients think removing a painful tooth is the easiest solution. However, saving your natural tooth has long-term benefits:

  • Preserves natural smile & chewing function
  • Prevents shifting of nearby teeth
  • Avoids the need for costly replacements like implants or bridges

Root Canal Procedure – Step by Step

At Risus Multi Speciality Dental Clinic, we follow a systematic, painless, and advanced approach.

A root canal treatment is carried out in gentle, step-by-step stages to save your natural tooth.

  • First, we examine the tooth and may take digital X-rays to understand the extent of infection.
  • Once we’re ready, a local anesthetic is given to make sure the entire procedure is completely pain-free.
  • The infected pulp is then carefully cleaned and shaped using advanced rotary instruments, followed by thorough disinfection to remove harmful bacteria.
  • After this, the canals are filled and sealed with a safe, biocompatible material called Gutta-Percha to prevent reinfection.
  • To restore strength and function, the tooth is given a permanent filling, and in most cases, we recommend placing a dental crown. (Since teeth that undergo root canal treatment can become brittle, the crown not only protects the tooth from fractures but also restores its full chewing ability, ensuring long-term success.)

Most Cases are completed in 2 to 3 sittings, depending on severity. We also offer Single Sitting Root Canal Treatments performed by our specialist Endodontist. It saves time, provides faster relief, and is advised depending on the severity of infection.

Aftercare & Recovery Tips

After a root canal, following care instructions helps ensure long-lasting results:

  • Avoid chewing on the treated tooth until crowned
  • Maintain good oral hygiene (brushing & flossing)
  • Use a soft diet for a few days
  • Take prescribed antibiotics/painkillers if advised
  • Visit for crown placement and then regular follow-up.
